Alllllmost got it though.
(The best part is at 0:52 where the lady in the purple jacket motions something hopefully properly British like “eg ads!” or “my word!”)

if they’d had the eurobeat blasting, they’d have nailed the landing.

Awesome attempt, good choice to go around. That crab angle got really bad right before touchdown.

Almost got it straight enough, but not quite. Then another gust and he had run out of runway. With talk of pilotless planes in the future, I wonder how a computer would have handled that one.

Who says a computer wasn’t handling this one? :P
Srsly, though...the “go”/”no-go” decision is often best left to humans and our clenchable anuses...er, I mean Gut Feel.

I’ll take a human pilot making the call on that, please!
Especially the way Airbus programs their autopilots...

I don’t see any reason a computer couldn’t have made the same decision. I do suspect that at least initially the computer will be more cautious, and might not even attempt that landing.

It was an Airbus, so technically it *was* a computer :)

You mean “I see you’re trying to land at this airshow, how about I just fly you into some trees?”

‘puter likely would have waived off far sooner - that is likely the problem in a situation like big cross wind. The computer is limited by preset safety parameters and c ould put you in a position of “you cannot land here today” and then what do you do...

What the....seriously? Not once did i see that right wing lower. Standard crosswing landing is limited a bit by the engine but that guy was aparently not thinking about it.
